Stoke Hospital

The Hospital of William Parson, known as Stoke Hospital, is an almshouse charity in Guildford. The grade II listed building with its distinctive red brick wall and cupola with a clock and chiming bell is situated on Stoke Road. It is not a hospital in the modern sense of the word. When it was built, this word meant a charity home. Today, it provides accommodation for 14 residents in self-contained one bedroom flats. Like all almshouses, it caters for older people who are not able to afford open market rents.

The charity is governed by a board of ten trustees, who are volunteers. A clerk is responsible for the day to day management of Stoke Hospital.

If you are interested in applying for a place when a vacancy occurs, please contact the Clerk - details can be found in the Contact us section.
